Position Summary

The SEM Director (Paid Search/PPC) is responsible for leading the search practice in terms of Search Engine Marketing.The SEM Director will work to establish performance metrics, report results and foster client and vendor relationships.

The SEM Director will work closely with Media, Marketing Intelligence, Creative and the Technology teams to strategize methods for enhancing CTR and ROI on Google AdWords, YSM! and MSN AdCenter, via analysis of campaigns, ad copy, and site content. Additionally, the focus of attention will also be dedicated to our clients’ web sites and working with the aforementioned teams to increase paid search ROI through landing page optimization and multivariate testing techniques.

Skills, Requirements & Responsibilities

* Lead overall strategy and execution of client SEM efforts.

* Act as primary client point-of-contact for all SEM related projects.

* Generate top-tier recommendations for optimizing campaign architecture, bid rules, ad copy testing, landing page conversion, and portfolio mix.

* Lead the evangelization of best practices for SEM techniques. Implement these practices within the organization and ensure they are followed by our staff.

* Partner with SEO Lead to insure a holistic Search practice.

* Collaborate closely with Engagement Management, Creative, Media, Technology and Marketing Intelligence to insure a world-class SEM discipline.

* Identify new revenue opportunities within existing accounts, and participate in winning that business.

* Partner on new business initiatives across multiple disciplines.

* Keep an active finger on the "pulse" of the market, communicating external client and evolving market needs to internal stakeholders.

* Build and maintain a strong knowledge of SEM solutions and technologies and educate and inform clients of new offerings or opportunities.

* Develop and lead delivery of professional presentations to prospects and clients.

* Motivate and inspire direct reports.

* Manage deliverables, reporting, strategy implementation and all direct communications with internal Technology, Media, Marketing Intelligence and Executive teams.

* Present trends and opinions to press and advertising industry.

* Cultivate new business relationships and recognize opportunities to cross-sell and up-sell.

* Build and maintain strong relationships with outside vendors.

* This individual will be responsible for overseeing a team of dedicated SEM technicians who have between 1-3 years experience. He or she will stimulate team productivity and growth by:

o Facilitating formal training of new team members.

o Providing education on overall Search industry landscape and best practices to the SEM services team.

o Allocating team assignments to make productive and effective use of each person's skills, as well as motivating their interests and challenging their minds.

o Providing ongoing feedback and conduct employee evaluations consistent with Organic’s formal evaluation process.

Education/Work Experience

* Bachelor’s degree required

* 7+ yrs experience within interactive marketing with:

o At least 5 years dedicated to search.

o 3+ year’s managerial experience.

* Experience with one or more bid management systems (Omniture Search Center, DART Search, etc) is required.

* Experience working in a cross-departmental/agency environment a plus.

* Excellent relationship management skills with an aptitude for mentoring and training.

* Needs to be a strategic and tactical thinker.

* Strong analytical skills, with a demonstrated ability to leverage data to drive strategy and decision making

* Superior verbal and written communication skills and experience presenting to Fortune 500 clients.

* Deep knowledge of search engine criteria / ranking algorithms.

* Proven knowledge and expertise in the digital space, with deep understanding of SEM.

* Communicates with confidence; writes and presents to inspire.

* A passion for learning and keeping ahead of what's next in Search while delivering what's now.

* Excellent relationship management skills with an aptitude for mentoring and training.

* Strong analytical skills.

* Superior verbal and written communication skills and experience presenting to Fortune 500 clients.

* Excellent presentation skills including the ability to put an entire presentation together.

* Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

* Ability to see the big picture.

* Highly organized and great attention to detail. Excellent communications skills.

* Very strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other MS Office software.

* Demonstrated track record of creative problem solving.
